Express Control

EXPRESS Control specified by “EX” in the model code

BetaSwage’s Express Control Swage Press Technology

Express Control (specified by ‘EX’ in the model code) has all the features of ‘D’ type Digital Control* with the added ability to be switched to express mode.

To operate under express mode, the operator pre-selects the required swage diameter in millimetres or inches. By then rotating the input selector knob up or down, the required swage value increases or decreases accordingly.

The rate of increase or decrease is slow at first but the rate of change increases quickly the longer the selector knob is active. This process results in the required value being reached more quickly, as well as incremental changes closer to the required value.

By releasing the input selector knob for four to five seconds, the microprocessor evaluates the required die set number/color and displays this on the second line of the readout.

Rotating the input selector knob again, removes the die set number/color from the display and begins to alter the required finished swage diameter value to operator input a second time.

When the input selector knob is released once again, the microprocessor again evaluates the revised required die Set number/color and displays this on the second line of the readout.

There are numerous advantages to Express Control.
Including:
• Reduced possibility for operator error, as there are no calculations required from the operator.
• Hose and coupling manufacturers recommend against using die sets in the range close to their closure diameter as this constricts the movement of ferrule metal during the swaging process and can also create sharp edges on the outside which can piece flesh. The Express Control ensures the optimum changeover diameters for each die set are loaded into the microprocessor.
• An Express Control swage press can be incorporated with corporate imperial die sets, to operate in a metric environment. The opposite is also possible.
• The Offset Value Chart is not printed on the fascia, as this chart is not necessary for the day-to-day operation for a crimper with Express Control.
• In an emergency, the Express Control can be switched over to Digital control and a normal Offset Value entered. A copy of the Offset Value Chart is printed in the Operational Manual.
